NTFL 2023-24: Watch Nightcliff Tigers v Waratah women Round 18 live stream

Nightcliff grabbed the all-important third spot for the women’s finals as Mickayla Ward continued her great season with four goals in a comfortable win over Waratah. Relive all the action.

Nightcliff have retained their spot in the Women’s Premier League top three, and go into finals with a double chance after seeing off Waratah.

A four-goal effort from Mickayla Ward proved decisive as the Tigers grabbed a 7.7 (49) to 4.0 (24) victory at Nightcliff Oval.

The hosts were ahead at every change, though inaccuracy in front of goal proved a real hindrance to posting a big score on their home deck.

Maighan Fogas and Jasmine Ware played important roles in securing the ball while captain Hannah Turnbull again proved why she’s so highly rated.

Waratah put up some resistance with Victoria Winstanley scoring twice, while Cassandra Glover and Maya Netherway also hit the scoreboard.

But they will have to be content with a knockout final against Darwin Buffettes, the same side that shocked them in Round 17.

Nightclifff have the better recent form on paper, but five of their last six games have been against teams below them on the table. There only defeat in that time was a heavy one to leaders PINT.

Playing this game at home will certainly help, as will having goal kickers Mickayla Ward and Cassie McWilliam in fine form.
