Undefeated Nightcliff Tigers have maintained their perfect record with a hard-fought victory over Waratah, who refused to surrender despite their ladder position. Watch the REPLAY here.
The table-topping Nightcliff women were made to work for their win against a Waratah side that steeled themselves in defence.
The sides may have been sitting on opposite ends of the ladder coming into the encounter, but the red and white home side never laid down against the challenge.
But Nightcliff had too much in terms of firepower and forward entries to get the points through winning 8.13 (61) to 4.1 (25).

The midfield prowess of the Tigers came to the fore in a dominant opening quarter with Gabrielle Deller and Georgia Johnson getting their hands on the ball plenty.
Cassie McWilliam, the club’s usual top goal scorer, was first to shoot through while Johnson followed while they kept Waratah scoreless.
But that wasn’t a reflective score for how Waratah would play for the remainder of the game with Bridget O’Dwyer involving herself plenty in the ruck battle.
She was first to goal for Tahs in what was a strong second quarter for the side while former AFLW player Stephanie Williams showed her talent with speed on the ball to score.
More prevalent for the side was Tah’s defensive efforts led by Jamilla Cranny while Brittany Daly was also up and about.
Nightcliff didn’t stop coming though and for all the effort they came up against the overwhelming amount of forward entries eventually showed.
A run of three goals to end the second quarter broke the game open and though majors became more of a premium after they had put themselves firmly in front.
Kierra Zerafa was particularly strong for the Tigers against her former side with clean ball use and a goal to aid her new team to victory.

WHY TO WATCH
The Tigers have started the season with an unblemished record, carrying on from their strong 2024-25 season form that saw them make the grand final before falling at the final hurdle.
There’s still a long season between them and that goal but they’ve done everything right so far to put themselves in the picture again.
New captain Gabrielle Deller has been a consistent force through the middle alongside the likes of Christy Landwehr and Sally Evans.
Cassie McWilliam finds herself joint second in the goal kicking leaderboard with eight to her name, while Hannah Garland on six is also in the competition’s top five.
Waratah sit on the opposite end of the ladder, an unusual spot for the side in the Women’s Premier League, but have plenty of hope they can turn things around.
Stephanie Williams has been influential since returning to the NTFL and can turn a game on its head, as she did when the Tahs beat Tiwi back in round 2.
Club leaders Brittany Daly and Jamilla Cranny are the other early season standouts and will be looked to for their experience.
