Lightning wins third straight Darwin Basketball Association title against Tracy Village Jets

“Super excited, it should be an amazing experience and I’m looking forward to playing somewhere else outside of Australia,” Rummery Lamb told the NT News.

“Newberry seems like a really good school. The coach and the assistant coach are both really nice and really keen to see me develop and think I will be a great fit.

“When I was younger I wanted to be a WNBA player so I’m hoping to become a stronger and better player there and develop my skills particularly my ball skills so I can become a more versatile player.

“My goal is to be the best player I can be as basketball is my passion, but it’s also important to me to be able to study at the same time to set myself with a good job in the future.”

Rummery Lamb was also extremely proud of Lightning’s success in the 2020 Championship, with her side running out the winners after a 94-66 win over Tracy Village.

And it was her squad mates at Lightning particularly captain Claire Maree O’Bryan, Lauren Barnes and Dom Carbone who have been big influences on her development.

Coach Jason Ivinson and BNT high performance and development manager Rod Tremlett have also played massive roles in her growth.

“All the girls that I play with such as Claire, Laura and Dom have been massive with coach Ivo (Jason Ivinson) and Rod (Tremlett) also being really supportive,” Rummery Lamb said.

“I was so proud to get that second Championship. It was an amazing experience to be a part of with such a lovely group.

“It was such an emotional win for us all and I’m just so happy to have been a part of it.

“Our energy at the beginning was massive. We usually start slow against Jets but we got ahead at the beginning and never lost that lead backing each other for the whole game.”
