Peter Politis is currently flying the NT flag in the Darwin Junior International which features more than 120 players from the country. Politis is set to face Victorian Amor Jasika in the quarter-finals after a 6-0 6-1 triumph over Cooper Wilkinson. He is also one of four Territorians competing in the doubles alongside Patrick Findlay. Nicolas Tremblay and Tumi Kgosiemang.
The calendar features a minimum of 14 events for the dry season in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs including international events, junior tournaments and Australian ranking tournaments.
Tennis NT CEO Sam Gibson also outlined planned Indigenous tennis tournaments as lead in events to the National Indigenous Tennis Carnival.
“We are really excited to be able to host such an expansive calendar in the NT after what was a difficult year,” he said.
“We expect the 2021 tournaments season will have a huge economic impact for the NT, with more than 3000 accommodation nights and around $2 million in spending from visitors.
“We know that players from around the country love coming to the NT to compete and embrace all that the NT has to offer.”
