INTERNATIONAL batting sensation Glenn Maxwell will be one of a handful of power hitters ready to test the boundaries at DXC Arena next week.
Maxwell’s power and his unorthodox but effective batting style will be a major drawcard of the 2021 TIO Strike League T20 tournament.
This year’s edition is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in the Top End series’ history.
Sparks will fly when the BBL squads from the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades face off against some of the best talent currently playing in the Territory.

Leading the way for the Stars in both an on-field coaching role and in the heavy hitting department will be Maxwell, who has more than made a name for himself on the world stage.
The Australian international’s pedigree is uncontested often getting the Australian side into unassailable leads with his ability to hit big sixes.
His big hitting has earned him plenty of praise and is why he has been the subject of many a bidding war in the Indian Premier League.
It was in the IPL where he made his most recent mark hitting a massive 100m six for the Royal Challengers Bangalore which landed outside the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
From 72 T20 internationals, the big hitter has scored 1780 runs with an average of 31.78 and a top score of 145 not out.
And for that reason all eyes will be on him when he faces off against his opposing bowlers in the Top End series with his wicket likely a prize all bowlers will be wanting.
Though Maxwell won’t be alone when it comes to big hits and big scores.
Southern Storm captain Mac Wright, who plays for the Hobart Hurricanes, isn’t short a big score with a T20 70 not out to his name.
James Seymour will be another to watch from Stars, being one of the few players with experience in Darwin conditions, having played a pivotal role in Waratah’s 2020 success.
He made his first class debut for Victoria in the Sheffield Shield earlier this year and will look to strengthen his case for further selections with some big hits in Darwin.
Tom Jackson from Geelong is among the younger players in the Renegades unit, but is no stranger to big scores, hitting consistent centuries on his rise up the ranks.
And the quality is there in the bowling ranks to match, with Stars’ quick Nathan Coulter-Nile and Renegades’ international spinner Cameron Boyce.
