TRACY Village Jets have shown an uptick in form in recent weeks, climbing into the Men’s League top four, and their season is about to get even better with star Will Burton returning.

Burton, 18, has spent the past few months playing for Mildura Heat in the Big V competition, where he made an instant impression at Division 2 level.

Now, with Covid measures restricting games, Burton is set to make his return to the Top End to once again play for his junior club and help push them towards a championship.

“It was great. I had so much fun down there. Everyone treated me well and greeted me with open arms,” Burton said.

“The game is different there to Darwin. (There’s) more ball movement and team play and while I didn’t think I played to my best, I learned a lot.

“I’m extremely excited to come back and play with the boys. I’ve missed them heaps. I’ll bring my scoring ability and hopefully we can get the win.”

Burton’s player agent Reece Hamriding praised the development and progress shown by the young player in his first season interstate.

“In my opinion, it was an exceptional season for Will, who took a real step up from what he’s used to on and off the court,” Hamriding said.

“Every conversation I’ve had with him he’s talked about loving it in Mildura and he’s already considering going back next season. His potential is endless considering his age.”

“The potential is endless for him considering how young he is. We’ve had discussions about NBL1 but he’s smartly not too fussed on rushing his development too quickly.

“It’s been a difficult season considering Covid so Burton has decided to return home to help push this young Jets side toward a Championship, they’re well in the mix.”

The Jets currently sit in fourth though are in the fight to secure their finals berth with fifth placed Lightning following a slow start to the season.

The Tracy Village side have come on leaps and bounds since then and have secured themselves an important confidence booster against their main rivals beating Lighting 70-65 in round 16.

Captain Dante Ah Sam starred in that outing scoring 27 points including seven three pointers to see his side through.

Next on the agenda for Jets is Uni Rebels who lost 91-65 to Palmerston last round.
