A HAT-TRICK from Nick Yarran and tough defence saw Darwin Brothers win 34-10 over Litchfield, a victory which may have secured their place in the 2021 NRL NT finals.
Brothers piled on all the pressure in the early phases keeping Litchfield locked deep in their own territory.
But despite all that pressure it was the Bears that scored first with Bill Burn bringing aggression leading to a try from Alex Marchant.

Brothers hit back soon after with proven scorer Pheonix Paeu crossing the line.
Litchfield looked to strike back then as well but Brothers brought the ball back down the field with strong carries from Lachlan Braun to see Yarran over for his first try.
The Bears came back with Marchant once again the scorer and it looked like anyone’s game once more.
Brothers’ Aidan Singleton showed his pace breaking down the left wing only halted when Jack Welch made an illegal tackle which saw the defender sent to the sin bin.
Singleton’s move swung momentum back in Brothers favour with Braun putting in another strong carry with Yarran crossing for his second try soon after.
Brothers continued their ascendency in the second half camping out in Litchfield’s territory for long periods of the second half and this time their pressure resulted in points with Paeu taking a try.
Litchfield reacted and fought their way up the field with runs from Dillan Vanderberg and Jake Crawley but compounding errors played against them.
And when the ball came back Brothers way it was Yarran who spotted space behind the ruck and accelerated to secure his hat-trick.
Not wanting to be out of the scoring Caleb Niki charged through the opposition line to sprint 60m and take a try for himself.
“Everyone is up and about after that. It’s a good feeling to get the win and put ourselves in a good position heading towards finals,” Yarran said.
“We just trust in our game plan and our players. We take it one step at a time and that’s all we can do really. We’re a young side and we keep getting better every week.
“It’s a new position coming in a hooker for me. It just opened up through the middle and from there I just used my speed to get those tries.”
Meanwhile, Northern Sharks sent a message to the rest of the league with a 30-20 win over top side Nightcliff Dragons.
