DARWIN Sistaz burst back into the winners circle with a 16-6 win over Nightcliff Dragons in the NRL NT women’s premiership.

It was the first televised women’s game of the season with Sistaz playing in pink to support breast cancer research and the side’s put on a show for the occasion.

Sistaz eager to break their streak of losses were right on the offensive surging into Nightcliff’s territory.

Darwin Brothers will be playing in pink in their home game against Nightcliff Dragons to raise money for breast cancer research

Their efforts were rewarded almost immediately with captain Bianca Stokes putting in a cross field to the benefit of Danielle Ponter who would go on to score.

But Nightcliff wouldn’t let the reigning premiers have it all their own way as Nanise Vakacavu made the most of a four person overlap to run in a try.

Sistaz struck back swiftly and it was once again Ponter who found her way through the Dragons’ defence to take back the lead.

And despite strong defence they were able to strike again in the second half with Ellie Niki charging through defenders giving Tanisha Garling enough room to dive over for a try.

That try ultimately proved the clincher as Sistaz turned on the defensive as Dragons continued to push.

“The last couple of weeks have been tough so it was good to get back on top and get back in the winning,” Stokes said.

“It all came down to hard work. Our junior players stepped up for us while our forwards set a solid platform to work off. It all came down to us looking out for each other.”
