AFTER a lean past few years, Tracy Village coach Tony Judd feels good times are finally ahead for his team.

Village recorded an emphatic 106-run win over Nightcliff in Round 4 of Darwin Premier Grade action at Tracy Village Oval yesterday.

Local product Coby Edmondstone starred with 4-16, helping rip through the Tigers’ batting card before they fell for 88 chasing 195 for victory.

“Coby was fantastic. He wants to keep improving and he works really hard on his game,” Judd told the Sunday Territorian about the offspinner.

“He also wants to become a genuine allrounder and he’s working hard on his batting.”

Josh Kann once again stood out with the ball, taking 2-12 off three overs opening the bowling.

The star Gold Coast Dolphins product took a staggering 6-9 in another massive win last week, helping Village to an eight-wicket win over Darwin.

“Josh is a genuine cricketer with the ball, bat and in the field,” Judd said.

“And he’s a great character who brings a lot of enthusiasm.

“I know his coach Chris Swan down there who used to play for Queensland and who I used to coach with Scotland.

“He rang me and said ‘I’ve a couple of beauties in Josh and Hugo Burdon’ and I said I’d be more than happy to take them.

“I think Josh is a real chance of playing Sheffield Shield cricket, and Hugo is too.”

Burdon also starred with the bat, hitting 76 off 85 balls.

The dark days of the past few seasons might soon be a distant memory for Tracy Village this year.

“I’m stoked. We’ve got a competitive group where all the boys are enjoying each other’s company,” Judd said.

“Our two losses this season (against Southern Districts and PINT) were winnable, especially against PINT (bowled out for 128 chasing 147).

“We’ve also got a pitch that is starting to play much better with Jack Flynn as the curator this year. But we knew 194 would be enough to defend in this game.”
