LUKE Roberts is the ideal model to build a new breed of player around at the Darwin Buffaloes.
The 18-year-old wingman is the Round 15 nomination for the 2020-21 NT News Rising Star.
Roberts showed enough in only his second game of league football to suggest a long career in double blue.
His 15 possessions, seven tackles and four marks indicated a determination to be around the football and a big appetite to get hold of it.
Cameron Stokes is the senior coach at the Buffaloes and a visionary in terms of where his club will be in 10 years time..
“Luke’s in the same category as Aaron Stokes, Tom Clarke and Cade Abala, we see them as important players in the club’s development,’’ Stokes said.
“Luke’s run and carry, smart decision making and maturity are big factors in his favour and we hope that carries on to a long career at the Buffaloes,’’ Stokes said.
