Sometimes footy players jumping in the ring can leave a lot wanting but Bellchambers and Mooney delivered one of the more entertaining fights.

Mooney landed some big shots but was sat down when Bellchambers, who had his big right hand charged up all night, landed a brutal shot that sent his rival stumbling into the ropes.

But after the first round, Jeff Fenech wasn’t quite sure Bellchambers was as in control as the knockdown appeared.

“He’s not sure where he is,” Fenech said in commentary.

A solid second round set up a big finish however the bigger Bellchambers went back to his faithful right hand to seal the win.

A monster overhand right left Mooney on his back in brutal fashion and gave the crowd exactly what it wanted.

“Lights out. That’s boxing,” Billy Dib said in commentary.

There was some concern about Mooney who was checked over by the doctors but they embraced before the result was announced.

Speaking after the fight, Bellchambers was loving it.

“It was as fun as I thought it was going to be to be honest with you,” he said post-fight.

“It was a bit of a whirlwind. He caught me with a couple of good ones just before I got him there.

“But that was amazing mate. That was everything I thought it was going to be and more.”

The 33-year-old Bellchambers had 10 years on Mooney and had teased more fights in the future.

NRL star Latrell Mitchell called out the winner of the fight before the bout but had changed his tune.

“I’m not sure mate,” he said.

“I’ve been in the gym for three weeks, so I’ll get back in the gym with Jase (Jason Whateley) and see how we’re going.”

Mooney said he was alright despite the loss and praised his rival.

“I’m a 43-year-old man who wanted to get into the ring for a long time,” Mooney said.

“I finally got here, probably at the wrong age, but I’ll tick this off the bucket list.”

Former world champion Jeff Horn said “It was a great fight”.

He said Mooney was caught in “no man’s land” and was knocked out.

UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski said: “Mooney really surprised me with his boxing ability but then Bellchambers, just that power and that size.”
