Western Bulldogs star Rory Lobb unveils hair art in support of Good Friday appeal

It’s been blue, there’s been a lobster, it’s even barked — so what has Dogs defender Rory Lobb got in store with his latest and greatest hair transformation? Well, it’s all for a great cause.

Move over Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue — Rory Lobb is doing it for the kids.

The most talked-about hair in football has delivered yet another incarnation in time for Easter and it’s all in the name of a good cause.

Lobb, 32, has set tongues wagging in the opening few rounds of the season with blue locks, a lobster painted onto a bleached buzzcut and “Woof Woof” painted on by his go-to mane man for Gather Round.

And this masthead can reveal that the Good Friday Appeal mascot logo will hold prime position for Sunday night’s clash with St Kilda which the key Dog said he considered a natural fit in support of the Royal Children’s Hospital major fundraiser.

“I just thought, with all the attention of my hair, it was a great opportunity to align with it also being Good Friday,” Lobb told the Herald Sun in an exclusive interview this week.

“We don’t have the (Good Friday) game anymore, the Dogs, but I thought it was a great way to sort of carry the Good Friday game through this Sunday and hopefully get people donating by drawing a bit more attention with my hair, having it on the back of my head.”

The defender started the hair series ahead of the Bulldogs’ 100th anniversary celebration when he dyed it blue which he conceded was much harder to remove than it was to apply, prompting the further frivolity.

Lobb — who admits his fiance Lexi prefers his hair longer and without such artwork — said the work on his hair doesn’t exactly happen quickly.

Luke Beveridge has his say on Rory Lobb's hair

He headed to see Jake at The Barber Club in Port Melbourne on Wednesday evening for the lengthy session before unveiling the heartfelt Easter edition of his now-famous hair at Western Bulldogs training on Thursday.

“It’s actually a big process to do it every time. It’s about two to three hours every time I do it,” he revealed.

“Jake draws it on or paints it on, so it’s a fair bit of work. Usually I do it at the end of his day.

“Then on Friday, I think I’ll head into the (Good Friday Appeal) call centre and show everyone around there.”
