Carlton has accepted the resignation of senior staff member Daniel Giese who was under investigation over a “management matter”.
Giese, who was the general manager of consumer business since 2018, has been on a period of scheduled leave which had been extended over the weekend.
But he will not return to Ikon Park amid a serious complaint about their conduct at Ikon Park.
The Blues confirmed Giese resigned on Thursday after it was revealed last week Carlton was making enquiries about an internal problem.
The club hopes the decision will put the issue behind it after strongly denying the issue was “related to any gender-based misconduct”.
The club described it last week as a leadership and management style matter.
On Thursday, Carlton would not elaborate on the reasons for Giese’s departure, only that he had decided to cease his employment at the AFL club.
Concerns from Carlton staff have been taken seriously by the club and were addressed again this week in a series of meetings involving the club’s top brass and human resource officials.
Giese had previously worked at NRL side Melbourne Storm from 2015 to 2018, as well as Richmond from 2010 to 2015.
It comes after the Blues’ former president Luke Sayers stepped away in the preseason over a lewd image which was posted to his social media account.
Sayers said his account was compromised.
The AFL Integrity unit concluded its investigation and said Sayers did not breach any AFL rules, but shortly after Sayers stepped down from his role at the Blues.
