SuperCoach 2016: Top scores, market watch after Round 10, 2016
STEFAN Martin could be the biggest bust of SuperCoach season. And he’s not the only underperforming ruckman. But there is a solution.

Don't miss out on the headlines from SuperCoach. Followed categories will be added to My News.
STEFAN Martin owners, you have our sympathy.
Martin started the year as the second most expensive ruckman in SuperCoach after averaging more than 110 in the past two seasons.
He started the year in reasonable form, averaging 104 in his first three games. Then he hit a wall — also known as Steven May — in Round 4.
Since then he has averaged 72 with only one score over 100 and a season-low of 40 against Hawthorn on Saturday.
His price plumetted another $45,000 last night and he has now lost a whopping $184,700 this season. If you’re one of the more than 21,000 coaches stuck with him, what do you do?
Normally our advice is to stick with your premium selections but Martin could be an exception.
With Justin Leppitsch now playing a second ruckman in Trent West, Martin’s ruck time has dried up and his scores have followed suit, with two in a row under 50.
At just $412,900 there are no obvious trades, unless you’re willing to roll the dice on Zac Smith ($404,800) or Tom Hickey ($394,900). But that’s just replacing one problem with another one.
The reality is you will find it very hard to compete this season unless you’re ruck combination is comprised of two of the superstar trio of Todd Goldstein, Max Gawn and Nic Naitanui. All three are averaging at least 114 points a game — the next best ruckman to play more than one game is Mark Blicavs, who averages 96.
If you don’t have those guys, move heaven and earth to get them. Trade down a fattened cash cow in the midfield to Stef’s teammate Rhys Mathieson and use the profit to upgrade Stef, or other ruck disappointments Sam Jacobs, Brodie Grundy and Ben McEvoy (all averaging 86 or worse).
Goldstein gained $19,000 this week but is still a reasonable price at $594,600 for a guy who averages 118 points a game. He’s in 87,000 teams and has a break-even of 72 against the Tigers on Friday night.
Gawn boosted his average to 117 after a massive 167 in Alice Springs on Saturday, but still lost $30,800 and is now $550,400. He has a break-even of 100 this week. Gawn is in 63,000 teams.
Naitanui is something of the forgotten man this year, not getting many plaudits despite averaging 114 points and only dropping below 100 once (an 80 in Round 2). He’s in 55,000 teams, costs $569,000 and has a break-even of 124 against the Bulldogs, who have restricted every opposition ruckman this season — including keeping Goldy and Gawn under 50 points. Maybe wait a week?
