The injury-hit Giants will unveil a debutant for their trip west as Hawthorn has promoted its round one substitute to replace the injured Chad Wingard.

Academy prospect Harry Rowston, who the Giants were forced to match at pick 16 by arch-rivals in last year’s draftm will face West Coast on Sunday.

The first round prospect and fellow inclusion Cooper Hamilton performed strongly in their practice match against Sydney’s VFL side last week, with Rowston tipped to play through the midfield on debut.

GWS will be without injured trio Josh Kelly, Lachie Whitfield (both concussion) and Harry Perryman (hamstring), while the Eagles have dropped Callum Jamieson and Xavier O’Neill for Jake Waterman and Sam Petrevski-Seton.

Hawthorn has made the one change for its clash with Sydney with midfielder Conor Nash, who came on as the substitute late in their loss last week, replacing Wingard.

Swans tall Joel Amartey has been recalled after Lance Franklin’s one-match suspension.

Essendon goes in unchanged for its contest against Gold Coast, with key forward Sam Weideman subject to a late fitness test for his injured toe.

The Suns have axed three players including goalkicker Mabior Chol after he managed just six disposals last week.

Running defender Lachie Weller returns for his first game since he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in June last year.

The Western Bulldogs have been dealt another injury blow with Adam Treloar ruled out of their Saturday night clash against St Kilda.

It comes as Richmond has turned to a pair of young talls, while Melbourne will welcome back a trio of premiership stars for its Friday night match-up.

Treloar, who tallied 31 disposals and a goal in round 1, will miss with hamstring tightness, joining trade recruit Rory Lobb on the sidelines after he underwent minor ankle surgery this week.

Hayden Crozier, Rhylee West and Riley Garcia have been called up as replacements while intercept defender Liam Jones has been named despite being subbed out with a neck injury last week.

Jason Johannisen and Mitch Hannan have been omitted.

St Kilda will welcome back Seb Ross but has lost Jimmy Webster and Jack Bytel to injury. Young gun Marcus Windhager has been named as an emergency.

The Tigers will blood mature-age debutant Tylar Young and ruck-forward Samson Ryan, who hasn’t featured since his debut in 2021, in its contest against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Forgotten Crow Lachie Sholl will play first senior game since round 10 last year, while key defender Jordon Butts has been dropped.

The cavalry has arrived for the Demons for its important contest against Brisbane with Steven May, Jack Viney and Bayley Fritsch replacing suspended livewire Kysaiah Pickett, Adam Tomlinson and round one debutant Bailey Laurie.

Former skipper Dayne Zorko has recovered from injury and will face the Demons, with the Lions bolstering its ruck stocks by recalling Darcy Fort to help tackle the ominous Max Gawn-Brodie Grundy partnership.

Travis Boak, coming off a rib fracture, has been curiously named as an emergency for his side’s bumper clash against Collingwood at the MCG, suggesting he may be the substitute.

Young defender Jase Burgoyne also comes into the Power side for the injured Trent McKenzie, while trade recruit Billy Frampton will make his Magpies debut against his former club, replacing the injured Jeremy Howe after his graphic broken arm in round 1.

Ruckman Todd Goldstein has earned a recall after his shock selection snub last week, while defender Aidan Corr replaces Aiden Bonar (omitted) in defence.
