JARRAD Waite was a shock addition to North Melbourne’s injury toll, ruled out with fellow stars Andrew Swallow and Ben Cunnington for tonight’s clash with Hawthorn.
Waite was left out due to a hip complaint, despite playing out last week’s loss to Geelong.
He has kicked 27 goals this season, but none in his past three games.
With North Melbourne’s top spot on the line, skipper Swallow will miss because of concussion and Cunnington succumbed to a quad injury.
Robin Nahas is also out, because of a finger injury.

Ruck/forward Majak Daw has returned to the side with Trent Dumont and Farren Ray and Corey Wagner will make his debut.
The Hawks, in contrast, recalled star playmaker Sam Mitchell, ruckman Jon Ceglar and Taylor Duryea.
Will Langford, Angus Litherland and Marc Pittonet were dropped.

Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson yesterday promised toughness without tribunal implications at Etihad Stadium.
Last time the Hawks met North, two of his stars — skipper Luke Hodge and Jordan Lewis — were suspended for striking.
“If we think we’re going to win the game of footy against the Kangaroos playing that way … that’s certainly not the way we play our footy,” he said.
“I’m not certain ‘belted up’ is a good term — there were two incidents that were undisciplined by our leaders, in terms of Hodge and Lewis and they were both penalised by the tribunal for it.
“We’re not too happy with our players playing like that.
“So the ‘belting up’ is just a term — the game was played in a physical manner outside of two incidents that were outside the rules of the game and were penalised.
“It wasn’t condoned by us in any stretch that that was the way that we wanted to play. That was dealt with by the tribunal. We move on.”
But he is expecting a “physical” North Melbourne to come out firing tonight.
“That’s the way that they play their best footy,” Clarkson said.
“They’ve got a very strong ruckman and a very, very strong midfield. The physicality is what is the strength of their side. We know we’re going to have to be really strong in that area to be able to compete.”
Sam Mitchell will return having missed last week’s win over Essendon with a minor back complaint.
He trained yesterday, while Hodge — who hasn’t played since having knee surgery after Round 6 — was put through a punishing running session before his teammates hit the track.
A rumour that he could be recalled for tonight’s clash did the rounds this week, but Clarkson resisted the captain’s best efforts and said he remains at least a week away from returning.
“I had a conversation earlier in the week about whether he wanted to play this week,” he said.
“He’s getting pretty close ... we want him to do a good block of training to get himself cherry-ripe to play.
“He was pretty keen to play, but we’ve been holding him back to make sure that when he does play, he can make the biggest possible contribution that he can.
“In different circumstances, maybe (he would have played tonight). But he’s played very little footy for the first half of the year, so we just need to make sure.
“The easy part is just to select them when they’re available sometimes and the hard part is to actually do what’s right for him and the club. He does this little bit of a preseason and gets himself right for the second half of the year.”
GEELONG made one change, with Darcy Lang making way for Tom Hawkins.
The Cats named Daniel Menzel despite the injury-prone cat suffering a ligament sprain in his ankle after landing awkwardly on Etihad Stadium’s artificial turf last Saturday night.
“We’re a lot more optimistic than we were, so it’s a really good sign,” coach Chris Scott said on Thursday.
“He’s worked really hard to get it right.
“There was obviously doubt, but given the way he played after that ankle injury last week, that always gave us some hope.”
Geelong’s opponent, the WESTERN BULLDOGS, made two changes with Marcus Adams and Lin Jong replacing Luke Dahlhaus (knee) and Joel Hamling.
ESSENDON cult hero Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is one of four inclusions against the Giants on Sunday.
GWS will debut its second academy product drafted at the end of last year, with Matthew Kennedy to be named to replace Steve Johnson for the clash against Essendon.
Johnson will be rested by the Giants after battling soreness in his foot in recent weeks.
Ruckman Shane Mumford (ankle) is also out.
