Three Darwin primary schools will increase their focus on kids’ digital literacy skills thanks to a donation of 90 laptops from a global tech company.

Ludmilla, Millner, and Malak Primary Schools were gifted the much-needed equipment by DXC Technology on Tuesday.

It is the second year in a row the Fortune 500 company has donated laptops to Darwin students and the initiative has tripled in size since last year.

Ludmilla Primary School principal Carol Putica said the new devices would help her students “embrace those 21st century learning skills” and prepare them for a digital future.

“Our Year 5/6 class is a one-on-one device class and with this kind of donation, we’re extending that into our Year 3/4 class,” Ms Putica said.

“We approach this technology as a learning tool, not a play tool – its use is taken very seriously and we’re trying to... predict the skills that our students may need moving forward.”

DXC Technology Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa president, Seelan Nayagam, said he was pleased to see the company’s partnership with the NT community grow.

“DXC is committed to reducing barriers and contributing to the educational success of Territorians,” Mr Nayagam said.

“Initiatives like this play a critical role in laying the foundations to help students participate more meaningfully in society and achieve better life outcomes.”

The donation is part of DXC Technology’s Digital Futures Program and is delivered in partnership with NT Cricket, the Shell V-Power Racing Team, Viva Energy Australia, Penske Australia and New Zealand, Repco, and LiteHaus International.

The donated laptops were presented by Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Drivers, Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison and Education Minister Mark Monaghan.
