US president Joe Biden makes gaffe about Kamala Harris, refuses to step down at press conference
Donald Trump savagely mocked US President Joe Biden for his gaffe during his press conference where he called Kamala Harris "Vice President Trump" by mistake.
US President Joe Biden just confronted a major test of his leadership and his position as the Democrat's presidential candidate at the end of the NATO summit in Washington DC.
Mr Biden spoke for an hour and answered unscripted questions from reporters where he accidentally called his vice president Kamala Harris "Vice President Trump".
He has repeatedly said he is not giving up his candidacy and will run for the White House again against Donald Trump. He believes he is "the most qualified for the job".
He first spoke about the details that came from the NATO summit, especially maintaining America's commitment to NATO and then he faced questions from the media on his political future, health and ability to deal with foreign threats including China and Russia.
He confirmed he will keep moving on with the job because he has a lot more work to do. He also said he would take another medical test if needed to assess his cognitive health.
Trump mocked him during the event by posting on social media: “Great job, Joe!”
Earlier, he had a shaky start to his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy at the NATO summit, where he called him “President Putin” in a horror gaffe at the end of the event.
“Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin,” Mr Biden said, before returning to the podium to correct himself, saying he was “so focused on beating” the Russian President.
The critical error came at an event marking NATO’s support for Ukraine in its war against Russia.
