How does the US Electoral College work?

Welcome to news.com.au’s election coverage. It’s four days out from Americans heading to the polls and the two candidates are wooing voters in Michigan today in the final days of the campaign.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are locked in a nail-bitingly close US presidential election race.

The latest national polls which have been averaged by Real Clear Politics shows Donald Trump maintains the lead. He’s in front by a narrow 0.5 points, at 48.5 to Ms Harris on 48.0.
