It’s no secret that the New Year’s Day public holiday offers some much-needed respite after the holiday season.
Whether it be a day out with family, brunch with friends, or just catching up on errands, it’s important you don’t get caught out by holiday trading hours.
See below for a list of traders that are open this public holiday.
Shopping centres
Casuarina Square will open from 10am-3pm on Monday.
Yeperenye Shopping Centre in Alice Springs will be open, though individual stores may vary their trading hours.
Gateway Shopping Centre will be open from 10am.
Supermarkets
All Woolworths stores will be open from 8am-8pm, except Gove which will open from 9am-5pm.
All Coles stores will be open.
Food and restaurants
Several outlets will open on the New Year’s Day public holiday, including:
Mad Snake Cafe, 9am-12pm
Sweetbrew and Co Dining, 8am-2pm
Besser Kitchen, 8am-2pm
Knotts Crossing Resort, 7am-9am and 6pm-8.30pm
Berry Springs Tavern, 11.30am-8.30pm
Oyster Bar Darwin, 11am-11pm
Snapper Rocks, 5pm-9pm
Fresh Point Co. Cafe (Parap and Bellamack), 8am-3pm
The Foreshore Restaurant and Cafe, 8am-4pm
Fiddler’s Green, 11am-11pm
Banks
All Commonwealth Bank, NAB, Westpac, People’s Choice Credit Union, and ANZ bank branches will be closed on the New Year’s Day observed holiday.
Council services
Leanyer Recreation Park, Palmerston Water Park will be open un the public holiday.
City-run libraries will be closed.
Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility will be open.
Public transport
Public buses will operate on the observed New Year’s Day observed holiday.
