Sam Pang has been getting “match fit” for his return bout as the host the Logie Awards, by doing several secret stand up gigs.
The pressure is on Pang this year to equal or better his sensational effort fronting the 2023 Logies and he is leaving nothing to chance.
His sets at the inner Melbourne comedy room, the Basement Comedy Club, elicited big laughs with Pang very much at home being once again the centre of attention.
And according to Marty Sheargold, a mate of Pang’s, the comic is also on a fitness kick to shape up for TV’s biggest night.
“I will tell you what he has done, which he won’t want to hear, but it is the truth – put a lot of weight on,” Sheargold said on his Triple M podcast.
“He will be shedding so hard for the Logies.”
Hosting the Logies is often described as TV’s toughest gig because the audience in the room and the viewing audience are hard to win over.
The TV Week Logie Awards, which will be held at The Star in Sydney on Sunday, August 18, is shaping up as a star-studded night.
UK singer James Bay has been locked in to perform and presenters include former Gold Logie winners Ray Meagher and Kate Ritchie.
Other presenters include Rachel Griffiths, Deborah Mailman, Celia Pacquola, Luke McGregor, Stephen Peacocke, Michelle Lim Davidson, Claudia Karvan, Costa Georgiadis, Matt Shirvington, Sarah Abo, The Muster Dogs, Larry Emdur, Charlie Albone and Stephen Curry.
More presenters will be announced soon.
Vying for this year’s Gold Logie are last year’s winner Sonia Kruger, Larry Emdur, Tony Armstrong, Julia Morris, Robert Irwin, Andy Lee and Asher Keddie.
