Sheahan Ink: Questions over why Carlton AFLW coach left club

A coach who left her position at Carlton is being probed over what is understood to be a personal issue with a high-profile AFLW player.

An AFLW coach has parted ways with her club in mysterious circumstances.

A highly respected coach in the AFL Women’s competition has left Carlton and the club is tying itself in knots over the circumstances surrounding her departure.

The woman exited her position at the Blues after a personal issue with a high profile AFLW player.

It’s a case of ‘she said, she said’ with clear differences between the camps about how her departure came about.

The messy situation has come at a bad time for the Blues as it attempts to start afresh after the recent upheaval of its men’s outfit that saw the club sack its coach and CEO.

The AFL is aware of the situation, with Paul Hamilton looking into it, in consultation with the League’s Human Resources department.

The coach is well considered in the AFL’s ranks and her reputation is sound.

Those close to her fear the personal situation will cause her profile in football circles to be unfairly tarnished.

Carlton refused to comment on the matter, saying it wanted to protect the wellbeing of those involved.

The AFL also refused to respond to questions.

The woman, who also had a career as a footballer herself, looks to have since secured a role with the men’s under 18s NAB League.

A spokesman for her was also tight-lipped about what really unfolded.

We hope for everyone’s sake the parties can both move forward.

HENDERSON’S PARTNER IN BITTER FEUD

A complaint has been made to Queensland police about the partner of a recently retired AFL player.

Former Geelong player Lachlan Henderson is now embroiled in a bitter feud between his partner Rebecca Klodinsky and Ms Klodinsky’s former lover Gregory O’Shea.

The complaint relates to a $280,000 Range Rover which has been in Ms Klodinsky’s possession but is still owned by a company linked to Mr O’Shea.

Sheahan Ink has seen documents that list the company as the owner of the black Range Rover, which is a top of the line model.

Queensland Police has been contacted regarding the ongoing expenses of the SUV but were unable to divulge any information on the matter.

“We are not able to release information on individuals or individual cases as it is a breach of privacy particularly if there are ongoing court matters,” the force’s media officer informed us.

Ms Klodinsky and Mr Henderson are currently residing on the Gold Coast with the son Ms Klodinsky shares with Mr O’Shea.

The Herald Sun is not suggesting Klodinsky or Henderson have done anything wrong, only that the complaint has been made to police.

COMPETITION FOR DEW

Suns’ coach Stuart Dew’s wife faces stiff competition from a former Channel 7 colleague to win a highly sought after breakfast radio hosting gig on the Gold Coast.

Esteemed journalist Sarah Cumming is one of the favourites to snare the now vacant co-hosting position alongside AFL champion Peter ‘Spida’ Everitt on the coast’s Gold FM.

Everitt’s former sidekick Bridget Brousard resigned last month vacating the show after 15 years behind the microphone.

Cumming is a former Channel 7 journalist from Sydney. But Cumming’s former colleague and Sunrise reporter Bianca Stone stands in her way.

Stone is the other top contender for the spot to wake up Queensland’s south east from 5.30am weekdays.

We contacted Channel 7’s spokesman who declined to comment.

Cumming has had one trial and is set for another this week, with station bosses and 292 game AFL star Everitt eager to solidify their next anchor as soon as possible.

Reality stars were previously the go-to for FM stations looking to impress a younger audience but that pathway now appears a strategy of yesteryear.

FM stations are now looking for qualified journalists or reputable entertainers to slot straight into the line-up rather than having to teach untried influencers with next to no experience.
