Three of the five Darwin CBD diners who were injured in a shock explosion have been discharged from hospital.

Health officials said one patient was likely to be discharged on Friday while the other remained in a stable condition.

Shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to Little Miss Korea on Austin Lane.

NT Health has revealed a Code Brown emergency response was called for Royal Darwin Hospital following the explosion.

“The Code Brown was in place from 8.15pm to 10.15pm,” a spokesman said.

“The mass casualty plan (was) enacted following the arrival of six people, including five who were admitted and required emergency treatment.

“The Code Brown enabled Royal Darwin Hospital staff to effectively plan for and manage multiple patients following an external emergency.

“Of the five patients admitted to Royal Darwin Hospital (on Wednesday), three patients have been discharged while two patients remain in a serious but stable condition.”

WorkSafe NT investigations are continuing, with officers set to speak to those injured and a number of witnesses.

A PFES spokesman said charges could be laid, depending on the investigation’s findings.

“We will see what the recommendations are after the investigation is finished, which is likely to take a couple of days,” the spokesman said.

“WorkSafe NT also has the power to issue fines.”
