NT locals and visitors alike can appreciate the beauty of the Territory by pitching a tent in the great outdoors.

But for many, farmstays and hipcamps offer a luxury getaway without sacrificing the camping experience.

We’ve rounded up the best glamping experiences of the Territory.

King’s Creek Station

King’s Creek Station is 36km from Kings Canyon.

It is a genuine cattle station but has a wide range of accommodation including camping, bush tents and more luxe camping options.

Guests can opt for the ‘Drovers Dream’ package, which promises a beautifully furnished tent, a plush queen bed, airconditioning, a walk-in ensuite shower, custom deck with a barbecue and a private fire pit.

A night in the ‘Drover’s Dream’ tent can cost up to $675, but includes a barbecue dinner and a buffet breakfast.

Cicada Lodge

Located in Nitmiluk National Park, a three-and-a-half hour drive from Darwin and roughly 30 minutes from Katherine, Cicada Lodge has 18 luxurious rooms to stay in.

The Cicada Lodge is proud of their award-winning restaurant, offering guests a special ‘Chef’s Menu’ based on the season and availability of local produce.

The Chef’s Menu allows guests to experience dishes unique to the region and features a specialty dish based on the Chef’s choice.

Accommodation starts at $583 a night.

Longitude 131°

Located in the heart of Australia, Uluru is visible from every angle at Longitude 131°.

Sleek lines and classic design, Longitude 131° is the ultimate in modern accommodation and comprises 16 tented pavilions.

The tents have the look and feel of luxury, while the two-bedroom Dune Pavillion even comes with its own plunge pool.

Local food and wine are sourced from regional producers.

Manbulloo Homestead

Situated on the banks of the Katherine River and 13.5km from the main street in Katherine, Manbulloo Homestead is a rural cattle station complete with a caravan park for guests.

The camp site and caravan park also have one and two bedroom self-contained cabins as well as motel rooms.

The property runs a commercial cattle herd and also offers fishing, bird watching and bush walks.

Bamurru Plains

Bamurru Plains is located on the edge of Kakadu National Park, on the coastal flood plains of the Mary River Wetlands.

The safari bungalows offer a large private ensuite as well as dining and lounging spaces.

The all-inclusive campsite offers an up-close and personal experience with a vibrant display of flora and fauna.

The selection of 12 bungalows are open from March to October each year and close during the monsoonal season.

Nina’s Ark Wildlife Sanctuary

Boasting hundreds of animals roaming freely across the homestead, Nina’s Ark Wildlife Sancturay is the perfect hipcamp option for any animal lover.

The 100-acre property features two safari tents, with options for a kangaroo interaction, guided animal encounter, and nocturnal tour available to visitors.

The camp is nestled in the Litchfield area and is a must-see for any wildlife warrior.

The $637 accommodation is also near an animal hospital and a gift shop, with the host promising a movie-like experience.

On the outskirts of Alice Springs lies a collection of glam eco tents.

Guests can enjoy a scenic view of the western MacDonnell Ranges during their stay.

The three tents sleep between two and three people, with availability from April to October each year.

A beachfront oasis rests on Bremer Island, just north of Nhulunbuy.

Banubanu Beach Retreat offers two- and three-night accommodation options in the island’s bungalows or exclusive penthouse, with food and alcohol packages included.

Visitors can live out their island dreams in bliss and go bird watching-snorkelling, kayaking, and look at turtle nests.

Two nights in the bungalows starts at $1665 per person, and a stay in the penthouse starts at $2120 per person for two nights.

The accommodation packages include return transfers from Nhulunbuy to Bremer Island as well as permit fees.
