About 11.30am Monday, police received reports that a person riding a scooter had allegedly been struck by a green Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Leichardt and Stott terraces.

The scooter rider was stationary at the time of the collision, NT Police said in a statement.

“The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render assistance or report the incident to police and fled the scene,” the statement read.

The victim suffered significant injuries to their foot and was taken to Alice Springs Hospital for assessment.

They have since been conveyed interstate for specialist treatment.

“Investigations by general duties officers have subsequently identified a 21-year-old male suspect and the vehicle involved has been located and seized,” police said.

“The suspect remains outstanding.”

In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy have been charged with multiple offences after allegedly using weapons to mug an 18-year-old man in the Alice Springs CBD.

Just after 7.30pm Monday, police received reports of two males allegedly armed with weapons roaming the streets, NT Police said in a statement.

Police allege the pair used the weapons to threaten the teen in a car park, before making demands the alleged victim hand over his personal property.

The alleged victim, who police say suffered a “minor injury” that did not require medical treatment, fled to a nearby business, where he called police.

Police CCTV operators and general duties officers located and arrested the two suspects a short time later.

Investigations revealed the pair were allegedly involved in an unlawful entry and burglary that occurred in East Side earlier on Monday.

Both were charged with assault with intent to steal, going armed with an offensive weapon, aggravated burglary, theft and damaging property.

The 21-year-old was also charged with breach bail and two counts of recruitment of a child.

Both were remanded in custody.

The older of the pair appeared in Alice Springs Local Court on Tuesday.

The 14-year-old was expected to face court on Wednesday.

A 26-year-old female was arrested in relation to seizure, according to police, who said she had been issued a summons to appear before the court.

Police said they believe the alcohol – which has now been destroyed – was homemade and was being sold for a “substantial amount” in the community.

Superintendent Peter Dash said police believed the woman “deliberately” targeted members of the dry community for “her commercial gain.”

“We are thankful to the members of the public who reported this incident to police, allowing members to quickly act to ensure no further supply could occur,” he said.

“This incident is particularly disgraceful as the health and safety of community residents has been jeopardised.

“Homemade alcohol poses significant health risks due to the unregulated production methods, and the exploitative cost at which it was being sold is disgraceful.”

He said police would continue to target those who attempt to distribute alcohol into remote communities.

Police are urging anyone with information relating to the supply of alcohol or illicit drugs into remote communities to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or contact police on 131 444.
