Northern Territory artists have taken the nation by storm, registering seven finalists - including five from Katherine - at the 2024 Australian Street Art Awards.
The awards aim to recognise the impact of public art, including murals, on local communities.
Chief Minister Eva Lawler hailed the Territory’s street art as some of the nation’s finest.
“The Northern Territory has some of the best street art murals and events across the nation – and now the rest of the Australia knows about it,” she said.
“Using vibrant colours, local artists have brought a breath of fresh air to Darwin and Katherine, transforming the streets into a spectacular outdoor gallery.
“No one tells the story of the Territory better than our home grown talented artists and I wish them all the best in the national awards.”
The winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner in early March.
