Search and rescue mission under way in Renmark

A search and rescue mission is under way in the rural Riverland area after a man was last seen near the River Murray just before midnight.

A large scale search is under way in Renmark for a man last seen almost 12 hours ago near the River Murray.

Police have released an image of 42-year-old Joe who was last seen near the intersection of Murray Ave and Pyap St at Renmark shortly before midnight Sunday.

MFS crews were tasked to the location about 1am Monday for an initial search guided by South Australia police as the lead agency.

Crews have returned to the area today to continue the search.

The person was last seen near the river.

Two MFS crews and SES boats are on the water as the search continues.

SES crews have deployed a drone as part of the search.

Joe is described as being of Islander appearance, about 180cm tall, of a slim build with short black curly hair.

Police and Joe’s family have concerns for his welfare.
