A suspicious fire on a beachside property in Adelaide’s south has caused thousands of dollars worth of damage after it started in a tree then spread to a house, car and boat.
CFS crews and police rushed to the house on Illman Crescent at Aldinga Beach, about 48km south of Adelaide, after reports that a tree had caught on fire at 2am.
Crews arrived to find the fire had spread to the front of the house and to a car and boat.
The blaze was quickly extinguished but had already caused extensive damage to the car.
Fire crews managed to save the rest of the house and neighbouring properties.
No one was injured during the incident, police said, but officers and SA Ambulance crews remained at the scene to support firefighters.
The damage bill has been set around $120,000.
Firefighters returned to the property on Saturday to determine how the fire started.
Police are now investigating the incident as they believe the fire was suspicious.
