Massive shark spotted swimming dangerously close to shore at popular beach south of Adelaide

A video has been posted to Facebook showing a massive shark sighted at a popular Adelaide beach, with the creature swimming dangerously close to shore.

SA man captured footage of a 4m shark

A massive shark has been spotted swimming dangerously close to shore at a popular beach south of Adelaide on Friday morning.

In a 3 second video posted to the Shark Watch SA Facebook page, a large shark can be seen swimming about 50 metres offshore at Aldinga Beach.

Admin for the page said the video had been circulating online, and that they had contacted the person who filmed it.

“One of our followers has just notified Shark Watch SA of this footage circulating on Facebook this morning showing a 2 - 3m long shark swimming in the shallows at Aldinga Beach,” the post read.

“No further details or footage provided at this stage. We are waiting for the witness to respond to Shark Watch SA for clarification.”

It is unclear what breed the shark was, but people commented on the post suggesting it was bigger than 3 metres, and that it could potentially be a Bronze Whaler.
