Adelaide radio’s “nice guy” John Dean is semi-retiring after almost half-a-century on air.
Dean, whose career kicked off on the drive shift at 5KA in 1977, is signing off from Cruise 1323 Breakfast next month after more that 20 years at the AM station.
However, while Dean will sign off on Friday, March 7, the station says he will “remain part of the Cruise family as a standby announcer.”
“Most people retire at 65 – I’ve been fortunate to do something I love and to still be on air at almost 75,” Dean said.
“It’s been incredible to see Cruise evolve from when it first launched in 2005 to where it is today, and I’ve been lucky to share that journey with such a loyal audience.”
His replacement will be announced in the coming weeks.
