A woman who wielded an axe at emergency services workers after crashing and rolling her car has now come clean on fresh assault charges.
Kimberley Vera Hudson, 35, appeared in the District Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to multiple counts of assault and theft, stemming from incidents on March 3, last year.
The court heard some of the assault charges related to emergency workers, including one where she used or threatened to use a glass breaker as a weapon.
Hudson was sentenced to two months’ jail last year after pleading guilty to an array of offences from another incident, including driving in a reckless or dangerous manner, carrying an offensive weapon, driving with excess blood alcohol, assaulting an emergency services worker and driving disqualified or suspended.
She was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.
Hudson was charged after she wielded an axe at police officers during an incident at Goodwood Rd, on May 12, 2023.
At the time police said Hudson was in a black Holden station wagon which crashed and rolled near Rosa St about 11pm.
She eventually dropped the weapon before being helped out of the car.
During a previous court appearance over that offending, Hudson said she wanted to return to her seven children in Western Australia.
She told media she had an axe in her car because she had just travelled from Perth and, after crashing her car, she planned to use it to escape.
“I thought the car was going to blow up, so I thought f--k, I better hit the window,” she said.
“I didn’t mean for the arrest to happen.”
She said she had been drinking before the incident and did not know what happened on the night.
Hudson also said she was not worried about going to jail because she felt as though she was “already doing jail” while she was on bail in South Australia.
On Monday, Judge Heath Barklay remanded Hudson, who is in custody, to face sentencing submissions next month.
