A man has lost his licence after police say they caught him riding his motorcycle at almost double the speed limit through the suburbs.

Around 2pm on Tuesday, police detected a Harley Davidson motorcycle riding on Lower North East Rd at Highbury at 119km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Police stopped the rider – a 55-year-old-man from Banksia Park – and asked him to submit to a breath test.

However the man allegedly refused to comply.

The rider was reported for driving at an extreme speed and refusing to comply with a breath analysis and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

His licence was disqualified on-the-spot for 12 months and his motorcycle was impounded for 28 days.
