Zara is opening its most up-to-date retail offering in the Southern Hemisphere at Burnside Village.
We’re talking looks and technology.
The new store is actually a multimillion-dollar makeover of an existing Zara, which opened in 2011.
Housed over two levels and occupying close to 2000sq m, Burnside Village’s revamped Zara has a lift and escalators.
Womenswear is on the ground floor, while Men’s and Kids’ collections are upstairs.
Like European Zaras, the store’s interior is mostly white, with wooden furniture.
It also offers an up-to-the-minute take on good old-fashioned customer service.
For example, a staff member can bring a different size of an item of clothing, to a customer in a fitting room, in a flash, thanks to technology.
That is because garments brought into each fitting room are automatically scanned and logged, and staff all carry smart phones with the data – so they know who is trying on what. As a result, when you need assistance, staff know exactly which “little black dress” you are referring to when you ask to go up or down a size.
You can also use an app to reserve a fitting room or search for an item you’ve seen online.
And, if you have bought something online, it can be collected at the store.
The new Zara also has self-serve automated check-outs and a two-hour click and collect service.
The Spanish retailer has signed a 20-year lease with Burnside Village, which is owned by Cohen Group.
