A piggery in Dublin is under investigation by the RSPCA after reports of animal welfare concern.
The SA branch confirmed that the organisation has received a report relating to animal welfare concerns at Andgar Farm and was investigating the complaint. No action has been taken.
“Our inspectorate are currently investigating the complaint and as such, no further comments will be provided at this time,” the head of animal welfare Andrea Lewis said.
They noted no piggery in South Australia was RSPCA approved.
Farm Transparency Project this month released footage from the South Australian Andgar Piggery showing animals suffering with necrotic wounds, alongside pig corpses and wading through brown mud and waste.
Executive Director Chris Delforce said the footage, sent to them by civilian investigators who received an anonymous tip off, was of great concern.
The charity called for the closure of the piggery and for the pigs to be released into the care of an animal sanctuary for urgent medical treatment.
