A northern suburbs grandfather who allegedly abuse two children on separate occasions has pleaded guilty to being in possession of child exploitation material – but evidence is still outstanding.

Police prosecutors told the Adelaide Magistrates Court further interviews with the alleged victims of Colin James Gorton, 70, and witnesses were still pending – as were further e-crime extractions.

Magistrate Justin Wickens said Gorton, of Paralowie, had already pleaded guilty to a single count of possessing child exploitation material on one file, but further charges were still pending.

Gorton was arrested twice for alleged offences between January 1, 2021 and February 1, 2024.

He is yet to enter any plea to two counts of sexually abusing a child and one count each aggravated causing or inducing a child to expose body and aggravated recording of a child in a private act.

Court documents released to the media allege the offending took place against two separate children who were both under the age of 14 across two different suburbs north of Adelaide.

Mr Wickens remanded Gorton in custody and the matter will return to court in April after further investigations take place.
