A father of six’s meth-fuelled antics at a Qld high school ended as bizarrely as they began.

A father of six broke into a Qld high school, hurling an explicit slur at a student before ending up locked in a cupboard.

Keagan Brian Darcy Freeman, 32, was high on methamphetamines at the time he broke into Blackwater High School on March 26, 2025, Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale said Freeman broke into the high school and then into a storeroom in a business premises at the school, telling a 15-year-old girl “s*** my d***” in the process.

Defence lawyer Teaghan Bankier said her client ended up locked in a cupboard and police prosecutor Mirren Smith said this was for two hours.

“It’s quite concerning behaviour… especially with the child and the comments he made to her which will have an impact on her future,” Ms Smith said.

She told the court Freeman was on a suspended sentence and probation at the time.

Ms Bankier said her client, whose children were aged between one year to 14, couldn’t remember all the events that took place at the high school as he was under the influence of meth.

She said the unemployed Blackwater resident had “significant difficulty” with drugs, starting with the use of marijuana when he was 19 years old and escalating to meth when he was 23.

Ms Bankier said Freeman had no excuse for his behaviour that day, particularly for the many comments he made to the teenager.

“It makes him feel sick at the thought of what happened,” she said.

The court heard Freeman sought help to rehabilitate from drugs in March and planned to continue to work at it in the future.

Freeman pleaded guilty to one count each of break and enter into an educational facility, enter premises used for business, wilful indecent act to offend, and possess dangerous drugs.

Ms Beckinsale sentenced him to nine months’ prison.

She also ordered the suspended sentences imposed on February 17, 2025, and May 12 be activated and served concurrently.

Freeman was released immediately on parole with convictions recorded.
