Third and final round of $200 Territory Tourism Vouchers to be released February 1

The release date and time of the third and final round of Territory Tourism Vouchers has been revealed.

Australia's tourism industry takes big hit over the festive period

THE third and final round of Territory Tourism Vouchers will be available from 8pm on February 1.

Tourism Minister Natasha Fyles said the waitlist from round two of the $200 vouchers had been cleared, with all 18,000 eligible Territorians who signed up receiving a voucher.

“I encourage people that might have that email sitting in their inbox that they’ve only got a week. Those vouchers need to be booked by the 13th of January for use by the end of the month,” Ms Fyles said.

“Go ahead and book something, get out and support our tourism and hospitality operators and start thinking about the final round, round three, what you would do.”

Like the second round of vouchers, Territorians are eligible for an additional $200 reimbursement for expenses if they travel more than 400km.

Ms Fyles also apologised for the scheme’s website crashing during the release of the first two rounds of vouchers.

“We certainly experienced huge demand and I again apologise for the IT issues people experienced back when registering,” she said.

Bombing of Darwin Tour operator Garry Gallagher said the vouchers had provided a major boost for his business and encouraged locals to visit war memorial sites with the upcoming memorial of the bombing.

“(They’re) getting to see their own backyard … and they’ve said to me they’re quite surprised with what they’re seeing around town,” he said.

“I have seen a boost, especially this time of year. The voucher system has been great for the local tour operators and also I’m sure for the operators in the regional areas.”
