THE highly popular multimillion-dollar Territory tourism voucher scheme will be extended for two more rounds.
The NT Government will today announce it will spend an extra $10 million to help the tourism industry get through the wet season by extending the tourism voucher scheme out to February 2021.
The stimulus measure, one of a suite to be revealed as part of the NT’s fiscal outlook today, is designed to incentivise Territorians to explore their back yards by providing them with up to $200 in cash to holiday at home.

The 26,000 vouchers part of its initial round, worth $5.2 million,were snapped up within 10 hours of their launch.
It’s hoped two extra rounds of the program will help the struggling tourism industry get through its low period during the NT’s wet season, as the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic continues to cripple domestic and international travel.
The next round of vouchers will launch in November and the third and final round will launch in February 2021.
As per the original round, the vouchers must be matched dollar for dollar with one’s own spending and have to be put towards a tourism experience such as tours, accommodation, hire car or recreational fishing charter.
Voucher holders will have to book their chosen tourism experience online, over the phone or in person through one of the NT’s four Visitor Information Centres, located in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.
The vouchers must be used on a “bookable product” available through those centres”.
The vouchers don’t need to be used to their full $200 value, with any money unspent to be redirected back into the voucher pool.

When Territorians register, they will be asked to prove they live here via means such as a driver’s licence and only those age 18 and above can register.
