MORE than 26,000 Territorians have already snapped up all the available $200 tourism vouchers within a few hours, with people who missed out now being asked to sign up for the waiting list.
More than 26,000 vouchers worth $200 were made available from midnight July 1, for Territorians to put towards a tourism experience, tour, accommodation, hire car or recreational fishing charter, so long as they match the spend with their own money.
The Tourism NT website momentarily crashed when registrations opened at midnight as thousands rushed to sign up and all vouchers had were allocated by 9am.
A message has now appeared on the website asking people who missed out to sign up for the waiting list.
“All vouchers have now been allocated,” it said. “We will now monitor redemption and will be releasing more vouchers as soon as we’re able. Please fill in your details to be placed on the wait list for possible further allocations of vouchers.”
In the first five minutes after registrations opened at midnight 1500 vouchers were issued and that went up to 3700 in the first half an hour.
By 6am 5400 vouchers had been issued and the site had 41000 unique page views.
