TERRITORY Day revellers planning to illegally light up fireworks have been put on notice by cops.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Bradley Currie said cops wouldn’t hesitate to fine those caught lighting fireworks.
If you are caught you’ll be stung with a $1570 fine.
“Police are encouraging Territorians to celebrate Territory Day safely and look at alternatives for celebrating the day,” he said.
“What that means for Territorians is we will have to look at another way to celebrate Territory Day, you won’t be able to buy fireworks and there won’t be a public fireworks event and of course letting off fireworks will be illegal.”
