A FINAL surge of postal votes has led to a surprise upset in the seat of Barkly, with CLP’s Steve Edgington coming from behind to surpass Labor and looks likely to win.
In its final day of vote counting, the NT Electoral Commission had 881 votes to add to all 25 seat today, with a total of 81 in Barkly.

At the end of the final count, prior to full preference flows which will happen now, CLP’s Steve Edgington was seven votes ahead of Labor’s Sid Vashist, with 1724 votes against 1717 votes on two party preferred projections.
In other highly close seats, like Blain, Namatjira, and Araluen, the candidate ahead has extended their lead.
