Labor tipped to win Blain and Barkly and Lambley likely to hold Araluen as vote recount finishes
THE seats of Blain and Barkly will more than likely go to Labor, Territory Alliance will hold on to their one and only seat and Namatjira remains impossibly close to call, according to an election boffin, after a full recount of votes in six close seats was completed on Wednesday.

THE seats of Blain and Barkly will more than likely go to Labor; Territory Alliance will hold on to their one and only seat and; Namatjira remains impossibly close to call, according to an election boffin after a full recount of votes in six close seats was completed on Wednesday.
The Northern Territory Electoral Commission, as per protocol, recounted all votes in the six seats where the top two candidates were separated by less than a hundred votes.
Full distribution of preferences in each of the NT’s 25 seats will begin on Friday, which is also the deadline for the NTEC to receive any remaining postal votes.

A total of 457 postal votes were received by the NTEC on Wednesday and those will be added to the count on Friday.
Following a recount in the seats of Blain, Barkly, Araluen, Namatjira, Daly and Arnhem, psephologist Kevin Bonham believes Labor will take Blain and Barkly and Robyn Lambley will hold in Araluen.
The margin in Namatjira has tightened even further, with only six votes between CLP’s Bill Yan and Labor’s Sheralee Taylor.
Labor’s Sid Vashist leads by 20 votes in Barkly against CLP’s Steve Edgington and Labor’s Mark Turner leads by 15 votes in Blain. In Araluen Ms Lambley is 17 votes ahead of CLP’s Damien Ryan.
Daly and Arnhem were already expected to be held by the CLP and Labor respectively and this hasn’t changed. CLP leads in Daly by 87 votes and Labor lead in Arnhem by 89 votes.

As it stands, turnout at this year’s NT election is 71.3 per cent, lower than the 2016 election turnout of 74 per cent.
