Manunda Place sneak peek and walk-through

DARWIN’S central business district is about to get busier as more than 800 NT Government public servants move into their new HQ on the corner Knuckey and Cavenagh streets over the next few weeks.

The final touches are being put on Manunda Place, developed and owned by private company Sandran with the NT Government as its lead tenant, with 72 NT Health workers currently working out of the building to break in the office before their colleague move in over three phases.

Built over 80 weeks with lead contractor Hutchinson Builders at the helm, Manunda Place will consolidate public servants from three locations across Darwin, including NT Health administrative staff and workers from the Department of Corporate and Information Services.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles said the relocation of public servants from the three separate locations into the one building would not, in rent, come at an additional cost to government as some leases were about to run out.

“The other locations go back into the government pool so they can be allocated to other government agencies that may need those locations,” she said.

“(Relocation of workers) is certainly for this area of the CBD really important.”

Manunda Place was built alongside a 324-bay multistorey car park on Litchfield Street.

Tradies are currently finishing off the building, including installing the covered walkway.

Public servants working at Manunda Place will have access to sweeping skyline views of the Darwin CBD and will be able to monitor the progress, or lack thereof, of the shade sail structure on Cavenagh Street.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) recently executed search warrants at Manunda Place building as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union claimed at the time they had been the target of the AFP’s raid, describing the exercise as a “massive overkill”.
