LONG-TIME Alderman Elisabeth Clark has been elected as Katherine’s new mayor in a secret ballot by the town council.

Ms Clark will take over the position immediately after being elected by Katherine town council members on Tuesday night. She takes over the position from Fay Miller who resigned on November 30 due to health related issues. Ms Clark said she was not expecting to be chosen for the position but would work hard to improve council’s relationship with the community.

“We need to ensure that we are ready to take on 2021 with everyone supporting each other and remembering that we do everything for the benefit of the Katherine community,” she said.
A by-election was not held because Fay Miller’s resignation was made less than 18 months before the August council election.
