KATHERINE shoppers will be rewarded for spending their hard-earned money in the region from mid next month after councillors approved a local business voucher scheme modelled on the hugely successful MyDarwin initiative.
At a meeting last night, Katherine Town Council members unanimously approved the rollout of a MyKatherine voucher scheme that will encourage residents to spend more at local retail and hospitality businesses.
The scheme will run over two rounds, with the first expected to start in mid-November.
Katherine council will spend $10,000 on each round and will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the NT government.
The government will also provide an additional $50,000 for round 2.
