THE chief health officer has announced stricter COVID-19 testing requirements for people who have recently arrived in the NT from parts of Brisbane.
It comes after a 26-year-old man in Queensland tested positive to COVID-19 on Thursday, and a close contact of his recorded a positive result today.
Both are considered cases of community transmission.
Under the new NT testing requirements, which were announced this evening, anyone who has arrived in the Territory from the City of Brisbane or Moreton Bay Regional Council local government areas since Saturday, March 20 will be required to get a COVID-19 test in the next 72 hours and self-quarantine until they receive a negative result.

In addition, anyone who arrived in the NT from the same local government areas between Friday, March 12 and 11.59pm on Friday, March 19 who is showing any symptoms of COVID-19 must also self-quarantine until they receive a negative test.
Territorians intending to travel to Brisbane and people in Brisbane intending to travel to the NT have been advised to rethink their plans.
The announcement came after the NT recorded one new case of coronavirus today – a 32-year-old man who flew into Darwin on a repatriation flight from New Delhi on Sunday, March 14.
