A Red Centre primary school has farewelled a special classmate – who only missed two days of term this year – by giving her an award for her attendance.
On Wednesday, June 19, Sadadeen Primary School farewelled Penelope the pig, who will now move onto greener pastures.
Sadadeen Primary School principal Tom Middleton said Penelope – who had been brought to the school as a piglet – had been a much loved presence at the school.
“Penelope, born on Easter weekend, was bottle-fed every three hours from two days old,” he said.
“She quickly became a favourite, with students learning to care for her.”
Penelope was frequently involved in playground activities, with her presence positively impacting school attendance and engagement, according to Mr Middleton.
“Penelope was involved in events like Finke Riders, sports day, and NAIDOC Day, and was also in various classes.”
