EMERGENCY medical responses to the Nhulunbuy community will be serviced by a brand new support vehicle, as part of a $1.1m commitment to East Arnhem communities from mining giant Rio Tinto.
St John NT CEO Judith Barker welcomed the support and said the $70,0000 vehicle provides increased local capacity for the St John NT team to respond, manage and provide an infield medical command at significant events.

“This vehicle allows us to ramp up our response to community outbreaks of COVID-19,” she said.
“It provides additional capacity for the transport of personnel and equipment to the incident location and will support several regional events and service delivery within the region.”
Rio Tinto Gove operations manager Alysia Tringrove said the donation came during the coronavirus pandemic, when physical health and economic health had become so important to regional communities.

“St John NT provides a vital service to remote and rural areas in the Northern Territory and this funding will help them continue to supply emergency care and other medical services to people in the East Arnhem region,” she said.
