A PALMERSTON mother of two has been killed in a horror Valentine’s Day crash.

Evelin Kwok was driving to work when she was involved in a head-on collision with another car on Roystonea Ave.

She died at the scene when her Hyundai sedan collided with a dark grey Toyota Corolla which police believe was travelling on the wrong side of the road.

Ms Kwok’s husband Wei-kai (Kevin) Lee said his wife, who was originally from Taiwan, had been a wonderful partner and mother and a hard-working nurse who was dedicated to the aged care clients she worked with.

“Evelin is a mum of two girls, one is turning to six in April and is one turning to two next month,” he said.

“She worked in a nursing home as a nurse.”

“She was very compassionate about her work and clients.”

“Even though she worked overnight shifts, she still spent time with the girls before they went to bed as well as on her day off.”

“I (don’t know) how to tell the older girl about what happened to mum.”

Mr Lee said his wife’s dream had been to live in Australia - a dream she had been about to realise, being on the cusp of receiving her permanent residency.

“She saw Australia (as) her home as she has spent 10 years here and she believed it’s the best place for her daughters to grow up,” he said.

“(A) few months ago, she got the sponsorship from NT government for 489 visa for herself and her family.”

“She was so excited about it.”

“However, she hasn’t got it before she passed away.”

In a post in Taiwanese Mandarin on Facebook, Ms Kwok’s partner Wei-kai (Kevin) Lee said: “Sorry I didn’t talk to you for Valentine’s Day. I won’t have a chance to talk to you later, it’s my fault.”

In a statement, All Fence & Gates — the company Kevin works for — wrote “the management and staff at All Fence & Gates are saddened by the tragic death of Evelin,” it read.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Kevin and their two beautiful children.”

A GoFundMe page is being set up for Ms Kwok’s family.
