A SELF-PROCLAIMED “yoga enthusiast” will run as Labor’s candidate in the seat of Katherine at the upcoming Territory election.
Labor has announced Kate Ganley will run in the seat of Katherine at the upcoming Territory election.
In a field of women, Kate Ganley, a former electorate officer of Sandra Nelson who is standing down at the August NT election, will run against CLP candidate Jo Hersey and Territory Alliance candidate Melanie Usher.
Ms Ganley has lived in Katherine for 11 years and served on the town’s council from 2012 to 2014.
At the time she said she had been forced to give up the role less than two years after being voted in due to an “unforeseen personal situation”.
Ms Ganley has also worked in government, community services and the arts.
On top of her employment in Katherine, she has also served on several boards including St Joseph’s Catholic College Katherine, Katherine Regional Arts and the Katherine Women’s Crisis Centre.
“The Territory Labor Government is investing in Katherine. We’ve got a brand new Katherine Fire Station, a brand new Katherine Ambulance Station, a brand new child and family centre, a Flexible Learning Centre, a town bus service and housing renovations,” Ms Ganley said.
“This Government has also invested millions in tourism, sports and recreation facilities, and have invested in youth diversion and an amazing school holiday program. We’ve got a lot to be proud of and there’s plenty more to do.
